Karuppasamy is a senior citizen who is living with his sister despite having a son. He lost his wife so early after his son marriage he gave all assets to his son including house. Like we see so many films his niece isn’t ready to preaching her father in law.
So he started working on his own for expenses and food. Veera is his sister’s son who’s doing some social activities learned many things from his uncle karuppaiah.

One fine day Karuppaiah met with accident this is where story took a turn. The doctor clearly said surgery only could make him walk but his son Senthil isn’t ready to spend single penny for him.
So Senthil took his father to his house let him paralyzed with illness. Senthil wife again started yelling for preaching his Father in law. Within few days Karuppaiah died.
Karuppaiah sister family came to funeral Veera find out the mystery in the murder. Veera started finding how his beloved uncle died. This could lead him to find a tradition followed by village peoples.
The Thalaikoothal tradition is used for whoever suffering long term pain, paralyzed to make mercy killing for redemption. This story reminds us how people like us feel when our parents are sick in their last times.
We already see the glance of this Thalaikoothal tradition showed already in KD engira Karuppu Durai movie.
We thought them as a burden in our life we didn’t spend time with them or didn’t give attention to their feelings. They (parents) spending their entire life for make our life better. Work hard for us. Spend most of time for us when we are sick.
But we aren’t ready take care for our parents when they’re ill or paralyzed. When we see the acting of the film, the Inexperienced cast performed really well.
I really like the performance of Veera and Senthil. When Senthil behave like adament & sadistic way which make everyone angry obviously whoever watching the film.
The director wants us to experience the art of the film. The screenplay seems really good. Some of the dialogues as well.
When Karuppaiah met with accident title Card Baaram (Burden) appears in the screen. Which I really loved. This meant who is going to take the burden after this accident.
This film won National Award for best feature tamil film. I think it deserved for it’s theme.
